Glastonbury

Possibly the quirkiest town in England. Steeped in history, myth and the smell of incense.

Glastonbury, probably more famous for the annual music festival that actually takes place some distance away at Pilton, is a small market town in Somerset.  As the town’s website describes itself, it is quite quirky, but it is well worth a visit and possibly lunch in one of the numerous excellent small restaurants that cover all tastes especially those with vegetarian, vegan and eco-friendly themes.

It must do is to climb the Tor as the view across Somerset is outstanding.   Other attractions include (amongst many):  the Bride’s Mound; Chalice Well; Goddess Temple; the Tercentennial Labyrinth…..

Set in 37 acres of beautifully peaceful parkland. Since Medieval times, the abbey has held legendary status as the earliest Christian foundation in Britain linked to Joseph of Arimathea and the burial place of King Arthur.
