The Old Post Office Barn is a detached 18th Century converted two storey stone built building providing a perfect 'home from home’. It is situated within the quiet village of Galhampton just outside the beautiful and unspoilt market town of Castle Cary. Please see our Testimonial page

Although Castle Cary has a main line station on the outskirts, it is a beautiful market town ‘lost in time’ having thankfully been overlooked by the less desirable aspects of progress!

Galhampton is a quiet, rural and very friendly village and ideally situated for you to enjoy the area whether you want shopping, attractions, walking, quiet village pub meals or a combination of them all.

The Barn is ideal for Glastonbury, Wells, Stourhead, Sherbourne, Bath & West Showground, The Newt, Cadbury Court, Wincanton racecourse, and the Camelot countryside with good pubs and local walking.

Hopefully by exploring this site you will see everything you need to know about the Barn and the area. We have tried to cover it all with descriptions and /or pictures to help you see the pleasure of a holiday stay with us and the beauty of the surrounding area. It really is tranquil and a ‘home from home’.

Please note that we live in a very rural setting on what is a small holding but we are not a petting park or farm per se. We have livestock Apr-Mid Aug (Pigs & Sheep), a number of chickens and a cat around the property: all of our guests’ children have loved the experience of feeding the sheep and collecting the odd egg for breakfast from the chickens.

Unfortunately, we can no longer accept guest’s animals/pets.

If you want to order your food from an online Supermarket (e.g. Tesco or Morrisons) and have it delivered on the day of your arrival - we will unpack it for you so its all there ready when you get here!!
